Biochemistry Research Associate

Biochemistry Research Associate needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh Scientific's client located in Waltham, MA.

This position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role in a highly collaborative research environment. This position is also part of a major pharmaceutical company, and requires a Bachelor's of Science degree and 2
years of experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
. Schedule is full-time M-F (7am-8am start time, 8 hour shift) and may require flexibility to work some evenings and overtime due to projects.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will participate in development and implementation of state-of-the-art analytical methods and biophysical characterization to support subunit-based vaccine programs.
  • The candidate is expected to have an organized, solution-focused, team-oriented mindset and will interact closely with other investigators in research and development of novel vaccine candidates.
  • This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role in a highly collaborative research environment.
  • Maintain detailed records and communicate progress and challenges, as necessary.
  • Perform timely electronic laboratory notebook entries, review, and submission for completed experiments.


Key
Responsibilities:

  • Alongside senior technical staff, carry out the experimental planning and execution of viral antigen production, characterization, and formulation efforts.
  • Work with senior staffs to develop and optimize experimental assays to meet project objectives.
  • Characterize the proteins with various analytical techniques, including SDS-PAGE, Western blot, HPLC-MALS, BLI/SPR, DSF, and other functional activity assay.
  • Strong organizational skills required for inventory maintenance and experimental set-ups.
  • Data analysis and record-keeping in electronic format of raw and analyzed data, present data on a frequent basis.
  • Work with others in agile working environment.


Technical Skills:

  • B.S./M.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field with 2
    years of experience in a Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology company (in an experimental laboratory environment).
  • A background in protein chemistry and analytics is required.
  • Hands-on experience with separation based analytical methods (U/HPLC, SEC-MALS, LC-MS/MS, CGE, SDS-PAGE/WB, etc), with BLI, SPR or other protein-protein interaction technologies, and particle analysis & thermal stability (DLS, DSF, DSC, etc) is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are required.
