This role is an integral part of a major initiative to enable the US Gas Business by improving how our employees serve our customers today and by creating the platform for tomorrows growth. You will drive this enablement program to deliver changes across people, process, systems and technology to create:


Enhanced Reliability refresh and replace most of our core work and asset management systems to improve the reliability and enable enhanced public safety and a more robust service to our customers.


Enhanced Compliance deliver significant system rationalization and simplification by enabling processes that are more intuitive to perform work in the right way and capture the required data; have visibility of all work; reduce complexity from multiple systems and processes.
Enhanced Customer Service enhanced performance through better scheduling and dispatch processes, enabling an enhanced interface for our customers to interact directly with us to book appointments and work.
Enable Continuous Improvement relieve our loss of agility from multiple, inflexible, legacy systems that restrict opportunities to efficiently meet customer,regulatory and company needs.

About the Position:


The Integration Architect is responsible for the development and the maintenance of selected Application and Integration Architecture work products within the overall US Gas Business Enablement program and the governance of projects against overall program architecture. The Integration Architect also provides consultancy within the program on the interpretation and application of program architecture. The Integration Architect is also responsible for the effective delivery and continuous improvement of integration services in support of the US Gas Business Enablement program and to establish strategic services enabling step changes within National Grids solution delivery practice.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Lead the definition of Application Architecture and Integration Architecture standards and best practices within the program.

  • Lead technology selection and adoption within the program.

  • Responsible for articulating and socializing architectural and technical concepts to technical and business audiences.

  • Partners with National Grid Enterprise Architecture on alignment of standards and defining emerging standards.

  • Acts as a key member of the programs architectural governance process.

  • Demonstrates the Valued Business Partner capabilities and behaviors in all interactions with IS Colleagues, vendors and business stakeholders.

  • Works under the direction (dotted line) of the US Gas Business Enablement programs Chief Solution Architect to support design and discovery.

  • Reports to the Service Delivery Manager in the delivery of services in support of the US Gas Business Enablement program.

  • Responsible for producing solution architectures and work products.



Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience Required:


Qualifications Required:

  • BS and educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • 10 plus years in application development, application architecture, and integration architecture.

  • Proven track record of successfully contributing to large scale programs and managing portfolios of projects and programs.


Experience & Technical Knowledge Desired:



  • Experience working as an Integration Architect or Application Architect

  • Experience developing Solution Architectures and work products

  • Experience designing and developing ESB integration patterns, Oracle SOA Suite preferred

  • Experience with SOAP, REST, messaging, database, and file based mediations

  • Experience with Dev Ops tool chains

  • Understands and can articulate the difference between Service Oriented Architecture and REST API design philosophies

  • Knowledge of business analysis tools and techniques

  • Good written and verbal communications skills

  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills at project stakeholder level

  • Demonstrate the Valued Business Partner capabilities and behaviors in all interactions with IS Colleagues, vendors and business stakeholders

  • Ability to convey conceptual architecture or detailed architecture depending on audience

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Agile experience preferred

  • Knowledge of National Grids legacy integration estate is a plus

  • Responsible for delivering specific Application and Integration Architecture pieces of work to time and budget under the direction of the programs Chief Solution Architect.

  • Responsible for partnering with National Grid Enterprise Architecture to align on standards and to influence emerging standards.

  • Contributes to the overall architectural governance of the program


Main Interfaces:




  • With Strategy Team to develop the future Application and Integration Architecture vision and roadmap and to influence the investment plan

  • With Solution Delivery and Business Relationship Management for specific input on the governance of projects against the Information Architecture

  • With Enterprise Architecture to ensure consistency of the architecture across all Enterprise Architecture domains

  • With the Security teams for end user device enablement and security

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
