Your impact at TESARO:

The Scientist, Oncology Translational Sciences will become an integral part of the translational research and development (TR&D) group and have a strong background in translational science, including in the development and implementation of translational assays to support the development of biomarkers (target engagement, mechanism of action and patient selection) for programs post clinical candidate selection through clinical development. Furthermore, the selected candidate will leverage their experience to assist in the assessment of new technologies and approaches for incorporation into future programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and manage external activities and interactions to deliver key experimental studies to support clinical stage drug candidates, including biomarkers, & novel assay systems.
  • Provide input into experimental design and data analysis for transcriptomic, proteomic, genomic, functional and immunophenotypic studies.
  • Work with Clinical Operations to deploy and manage biomarker and patient selection assays and logistics of clinical sample handling.
  • Interface with Clinical Sample Management team to streamline sample collection and processing, and transfer of assays to clinical sites and CROs as well as the tracking and management of clinical trial samples.
  • Help direct, expand, and coordinate the TR&D biobank to enable scientists to address key biological questions relevant to the TESARO portfolio
  • Work closely within Translational Research & Development and with Clinical colleagues to coordinate translation of emerging data into validated clinical biomarkers for advancing drug candidates through clinical trials.
  • Manage research studies through CROs.


  • BS/MS and 6 years pharmaceutical, biotech and /or commercial pharmaceutical industry experience with demonstrated experience in translational science and a proven ability to influence teams in a matrix-based environment.
  • Experience in oncology drug development desirable, with a focus on biomarker development and implementation.
  • In depth knowledge with biomarker assay systems, sample requirement, and preanalytical factors affecting sample quality
  • Experience of successfully working in cross-functional teams including Medical, Clinical Operations and Sample Management, as well as with external CROs to ensure excellent communication and timely delivery of data.
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively interfacing with all levels of management and departments within the company.
  • Coding skills/experience with Excel macros a plus
