This person is hands-on with designing and deploying hypervisors, related applications, storage systems, and related schemes and hardware.
The Virtualization Engineer will evaluate new technologies, provides direction and recommendations and keep all virtual system devices up to date with patching, help to resolve and remediate any security risks identified by the information security team, and proactively monitor infrastructure for compliance and security purposes.
Examples of Key
Responsibilities:
Manages, upgrades, and patches central computer and storage systems.
Ensures system security, stability, and performance.
Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Implements highly available, scalable, and resilient information systems to support academic and administrative needs.
Responsible for day to day operations including responding to trouble tickets and escalations across all centrally maintained systems.
Responsible for providing support, advice, and coordination for system administrators in other departments
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required plus 3-5 years work-related experience.
Senior Systems / Virtualization Engineer should have an in-depth knowledge of VMware, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, software defined networking, network virtualization (NSX), software defined storage and Public Cloud infrastructure.
Required to have a fundamental knowledge of key technical areas such as:
VMware, SAN storage, LDAP, SSL, AD, Red Hat Linux, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, VLANs, Switching, Routing, VxLAN,etc.
